Commercial Door Hardware

Sales, Service & Replacement

From door closers and panic devices to locksets and continuous hinges, we supply, install, and replace the hardware that keeps every commercial opening secure, code-compliant, and working the way it should.

What Is Commercial Door Hardware?

Commercial door hardware is every component that makes a door opening function: closers, hinges, pivots, locksets, exit devices, push/pull sets, thresholds, and protective plates. While the door and frame provide the structure, the hardware determines whether the opening operates safely, meets fire and accessibility codes, and withstands daily traffic. Stanley Schultze & Co. supplies, installs, and replaces commercial-grade door hardware for businesses across Louisville and the Greater Kentucky area.

Why Quality Door Hardware Matters for Your Building

Hardware is where commercial doors actually fail. A door slab can last decades, but the closer cycling it shut hundreds of times a day, the hinges carrying its weight, and the exit device securing it after hours are all wear components. When they degrade, the symptoms show up fast: doors that slam or won’t latch, exit devices that stick, locks that no longer secure, and openings that drift out of ADA and fire-code compliance.

The stakes go beyond convenience. A failed exit device on an egress door is a life-safety violation. A fire-rated opening fitted with non-rated replacement hardware loses its listing. A closer set beyond ADA opening-force limits creates an accessibility barrier and potential liability. Choosing the right grade of hardware and installing it correctly is what separates an opening that works for fifteen years from one that generates repeat service calls.

Stanley Schultze & Co. has specified and installed commercial door hardware for more than eight decades. We work with the major commercial hardware manufacturers, stock common closers, exit devices, and locksets, and match every replacement to the duty rating, fire listing, and code requirements of the specific opening.

Commercial-Grade Products

We install Grade 1 and Grade 2 commercial hardware built for high-traffic openings, not light-duty residential substitutes.

Fire-Rated Hardware

Listed closers, latches, and exit devices that preserve the rating of your fire-rated openings.

ADA-Compliant Solutions

Lever handles, low-force closers, and compliant thresholds that keep your openings accessible.

All Major Manufacturers

We supply and service hardware from the leading commercial brands and can match or upgrade existing product lines.

Retrofit Expertise

We adapt modern hardware to older doors and frames, including field prep for new devices on existing openings.

Single-Visit Replacement

Stocked service vehicles mean most closer, lock, and exit device replacements are completed the same day.

Our Commercial Door Hardware Services

From a single closer swap to full hardware packages for new construction, our technicians handle every category of commercial door hardware across Louisville and Kentucky.

Door Closers

Surface-mounted, concealed, and overhead closers control how a door shuts, latching reliably without slamming. We replace worn closers, adjust sweep and latch speeds, correct back-check settings, and set opening force to ADA limits. If your doors are slamming, hanging open, or fighting users, we usually start with the closer.

Exit Devices and Panic Hardware

Panic bars and exit devices are life-safety equipment. We install and replace rim, mortise, and vertical-rod exit devices, including fire-rated and alarmed models, and verify that every egress opening latches, releases, and re-secures the way code requires.

Commercial Locksets and Deadbolts

We supply and install mortise locks, cylindrical locksets, deadbolts, and keyed cylinders in commercial grades suited to your traffic and security needs, including storeroom, classroom, office, and entry functions.

Hinges, Pivots, and Continuous Hinges

Sagging, dragging doors usually trace back to worn hinges or pivots. We replace butt hinges, offset and center pivots, and upgrade high-traffic or abused openings to continuous (geared) hinges that distribute weight along the full door height.

Thresholds, Sweeps, and Protective Hardware

Thresholds, door sweeps, kick plates, push/pull sets, and armor plates protect the opening and finish out the installation. We install ADA-compliant thresholds and door bottoms that seal the opening without creating a trip hazard.

Hardware Upgrades and Code Compliance

Hardware replacement is the most cost-effective moment to bring an opening up to current code. When we replace a device, we verify fire-rating requirements, ADA opening force and hardware height, and egress function for the opening’s use, and we flag anything else on the opening that needs attention. If your building is due for an accessibility review or a fire-door inspection, we can survey your hardware and provide a prioritized replacement plan.
